It is so easy to start promoting yourself nowadays. Here's my guide to how you should promote yourself as an actor in 2025, And why You should start as soon as possible.

Promoting yourself on social media allows you to be seen. And to be seen is to be heard. Creating an audience that wants to watch you succeed, can sometimes allow you to be seen by agents, managers, casting directors. Not only that, but if you're commenting on their post with positive things, it allows you to stand out and become more noticeable. Especially when it comes to you later sending them an email with your CV and a bit about yourself. It can build that sense of connection before you meet or work with them. This way your now networking,

Well what Works Best on Social Media???

It honestly depends on what platform you are using. For example, When using instagram, and you upload a reel, Instagram's algorithm will push that video to new viewers, people who haven't seen your content, but have liked other posts and reels similar to it. Instagram also prefers shorter videos unlike Tiktok, who prefer longer videos. So to gain a following on instagram, use a mixture of posts and reels. ( you can easily use one reel on all platforms) so that can help unburden the load of creating multiple different reels on the same day. Using the same one will free up your time.

They say that you should only really focus on 3 platforms when it comes to promoting your business. This way you can stay consistent with your content, and your audience. Speaking of which, depending on what your audience/age range is, depends on what social media platforms you should use, as they all have very different audiences. So once you figure out what type of content you have or want to create, and what audience your aming that to capture, you then need to create or start posting.

Here are some social media platforms to choose from:

. Instagram

. TikTok

. Youtube

. Bluesky

. X(twitter)

. Facebook

. Linkedin

So what can I post???

Anything from your self tape set up, to rehsual photos, or costume mirror selfies. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter about what you're posting, just as long as you're consistent with it, Social media is a free way to promote what you do. So promote yourself. And what you're in. At the end of the day, you've got nothing to lose.

If your wanting to create reels, here's some ideas,

. get ready with me for ___ project

. vlogs about your day on set

. self tape outtakes

. chitchat about a project you did (once you NDA is over)

Can I promote myself without social media???

Yes! Yes you can. Although these ways may be a little more expensive. Having your own business cards to give out whilst your networking is always a great idea. That way, even if you only have a short amount of time to talk with directors or agents, you can still give them your contact info with no extra hassle at their cost. And even without business cards, you should be networking anyway. Try to go watch a show on press night. Or go to specific networking events.

Other ideas can Include putting your headshot and casting info on a billboard that's facing the main filming studios. Which sounds crazy, but has been done before, and worked out well for the actress in the end.

At the end of the day. You have to be creative. Come up with new different ways to get the industry to see you and acknowledge you.
